Let the testing begin!
The first alpha testers were invited to start kicking the tires this morning, and we are on track to have the application ready for a beta phase at the end of September. The early feedback has been good, and I’m happy with how the app is coming together.

Past The Dip
I recently got past The Dip with a key feature of CatchTheBest. This feature will be a key one for people interested in refining their approach to and in increasing the effectiveness of their recruiting efforts. The hard part was figuring out exactly how I wanted to do it. Now I can enjoy the easy part of actually doing it.
In case you’re curious what the feature is, I’ll give you a hint: it has to do with email. ![]()

Foundation
Since I’m currently building this application in my spare time, progress may seem a little slow, but I’m planning on posting regular updates here as I go. I’m also planning on tracking the time spent on building this application, mainly out of curiosity to see just how long it takes to build this thing.
Currently I’m at eleven hours, and I’ve made good progress. The foundation is in place. The basic models, relationships, and UI to provide the core functionality are all there and functional. User authentication, team membership, and invitations work. Basically, the application could be launched now and actually be useful to my target audience, but I’m still a ways away from it being ready enough to unveil.
